FB4K New Mexico’s program works like this:
March-April: We collect and repair donated bikes. Bikes can be dropped off at one of our bike collection sites in Santa Fe or Albuquerque. Times and locations to be published in February.
April-June: Volunteer bonanza! All levels of mechanical ability are welcome – including no experience at all! Bikes are a assigned a Cleaner, a Prepper, and a Mechanic. All supplies and instructions will be provided.
June: We hold bike giveaways on Saturdays. We only give bikes to our nonprofit and school partners and these giveaways are not open to the public. We do this to ensure that our bike recipients are those with identified need in our community. We can’t give bikes to individuals unfortunately.
If you’d like a bike, contact a nonprofit partner or your child’s school. They will let you know if they are participating.
To donate a bike, please know that we don’t have the capacity to pick up one or two bicycles. We may be able to arrange something if you have 10+ bikes to donate.
July: At this time, we pack up our tools and store them until the following year. We’ll spend this time fundraising, planning for the next giveaway, recruiting nonprofit/school partners, and seeking our next workshop location.
